An exploratory hole created in the wall between the foyer and the bar to see if it is supporting Cinema One floor. The visible brick would suggest that it is!
A rainbow of colour samples to help us decide what colour of seats to have in the four screens.
The seats in Cinema One still in situ. We're selling some of them off, though most of them are fit only for the place where used cinema seats go.
The open front doors to the back of the under-scaffold hoarding on Lothian Road, giving the building a much needed airing – it gets a bit foosty in there with just us rattling around!
An exploratory hole to investigate whether an intended passenger lift can be sited there, to make the offices fully accessible.
The Box Office as it still is. We'll be replacing it with a significantly smaller one...
We've taken the opportunity to catalogue all the film posters held at Filmhouse. There's nearly 1800 of them!
An artier shot of some posters.
Do those pillars in the middle of the bar support Cinema One? We're not sure this hole is conclusive...
An old Fumeo 16mm projector (c 1971) left in the projection room of the Edinburgh Film Guild - perhaps we can find room for it as an exhibit...
Due to an oversight by the CMI administrator, the premises (alcohol) licence was lost. The Council licencing sub committee will be considering our application soon...
Just one of the piles of 'stuff' that has accumulated in the building over 45 years. Marvellously, Ian Rankin and his son Jack were among the volunteers who came in to help with the clear up!
Some kids being shown, in better days, the projection equipment in Cinema One. The good news is, when we signed the lease (in late July) all this essential kit became the property of the cinema once again!
Potential plan for Screen 4, sited along the corridor from Screen 3 in the old Guild Rooms. Edinburgh Film Guild have relocated and are very happy in their new home(s) elsewhere in the city.
One of our favourite posters of the collection. That's Talking Pictures TV's Cellar Club host Caroline Munro above the word 'Golden'! The film showed at Filmhouse some years back in collaboration with the Ray Harryhausen exhibition at Modern 2 – though staff were unaware they owned an original poster!
