This image was sent to us by Ali from Fife to show us what she'd done with the ten old seats we let her have from Cinema One. They now take pride of place in her new home cinema. We think they look amazing and we're delighted they've been put to such brilliant use! And thanks Ali, for the crowdfunder donation which followed!
It got us to wondering whether others might want to do similar...
Most of the seats are in such a poor state (fabric-wise) we doubt anyone would want them. (If we've got that wrong, please let us know at the email address below!) We reckon we have around 30 in reasonable condition, like the ones in Ali’s picture.
See below to learn how to go about getting your hands on a few...
Send us an email to info@filmhouse.org.uk and tell us how many seats you would like and whether you would like them in sets of one, two or three (max). We will only be taking requests until midnight on Sunday October 27th.
We cannot give you a choice of specific seats but can guarantee they will be used, worn but not damaged with the second image being a fairly accurate guide.
Seat Dimensions
They are, from centre of one armrest to the next (that's the way cinema seats are measured!) 525mm, are 840mm high and take up 700mm front to back when the seat is down. They also MUST be fixed to the floor, and we will give you the screws/bolts we have removed though of course they may not be suitable for your floor. Filmhouse One has a concrete floor.
We will have your seats ready for collection by you between noon and 5pm on Saturday the 2nd of November. This is the only window for collection.
Once you have your seats we'd love it if you wanted to make a donation to our crowdfunder.
£25 per seat would seem about right as a minimum, but feel free to give more!
Further information
The armrests on the seats at the end of each row are different (they only have one spar attaching them to one seat, rather than two) and obviously there is a limited number of them. An angle grinder would be all you would need to convert a regular armrest into an end armrest but that would be up to you. We would use up the end armrests on a first-come first-served basis and will be able to tell you in advance whether or not we can offer end armrests on your seats.
